Uncle A’s Ripped Toast Bake

Ingredients:
• 10 slices of hand-torn bread
• 8 eggs (for the custard)
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• A pinch of salt
• A pinch of pepper
• 3-4 eggs (to crack on top before baking)
• 6 slices of butter (for topping)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, whisk together 8 eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and pepper.
2. Add the torn bread to the egg mixture and stir well—make sure every piece is coated.
3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
5. Crack 3-4 eggs on top of the bread mixture for that extra richness.
6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes, or until golden and set.
7. Remove from the oven and lay 6 slices of butter on top. Let them melt right in.
8. Serve warm with syrup, powdered sugar, or any topping you love.
